Ernie Smith and Manley "Big Youth" Buchanan will have their hands full next week as they will be recognized by two different organizations on the same day in New York for their contribution to reggae music.

The reggae veterans will be honored by The Coalition to Preserve Reggae Music for their contribution to the reggae industry and also receive a Congressional proclamation on October 30.

 

Smith who will be presented with the Pinnacle Award, the highest honor for an artist tells Music New about his recognition:

  

Singer, songwriter, Ernie Smith and cultural chanter Big Youth are pioneers in their respective fields. Both have been entertaining reggae lovers for more than forty years. The events which will be held in Nazareth High School Performance Center in Brooklyn, New York on October 30 will cater to a slew of musical performers and artists that will also pay homage to the late Sugar Minnott.

The Coalition to Preserve Reggae Music (CPR) is a charitable organization working to raise the bar in the creation, development, promotion and presentation of reggae music.
