Born in the Rae Town area of Kingston Jamaica and grew up in the Grantspen area, another Kingston Community, and singing to the delight of his friends both on the streets and inside the classrooms where he attend school.

As soon as the teacher left the classroom, He would be on top of the desk singing and entertaining his classmates the same way he was as a five year old singing in Church on top of chairs and tables.

Named Courtney Whyte by his parents, he aquired the name SLEDGE from a popular TV series call

 Sledge Hammer, by his friends and peers alike, SLEDGE took himself and the music serious when he became the lead vocalist for a band call Power Play where he performed at some of the most known venues and Clubs across the corperate area of kingston and some of the most prestigous hotels in Jamaica while sharing the stage with well known artist like Roy Rayan, Stanley Beckford, The Astronaught, Dobbie Dobson and King Yellow Man as a youngster.

After leavingThe Power Play Band SLEDGE went on to be the lead singer for a band call Kosmic Krew which he then realize his writing skills and started to pen his own songs and performing them in front of live audiences to thunderous applausess.

SLEDGE decided to go solo and to take the music to another level and started to record his materials which he done well under the Builder s Label, Now Living in the United States he s doing well now with the release of his album entitled After The Storm. 

After The Storm The title trac was inspired by his Late Father who said those words to him as a teenager who got a girl pregnant and was in a lot of trouble, SLEDGE then as a teenager went to his Father for help and advice, after being scolded and counciled his Father then say to him AFTER A STORM THERE S ALWAYS A CALM!!! and said to him God Is Able, these words he uses when tough time comes along, SLEDGE then penned the song and dedicated it to the memory of his Father, The album has many hits like Run, Put Your Blessings, Tru Confessions
