Mavado will make his silver screen debut with a major role in the sequel to the legendary gangsta movie Shottas.

Filming for Shottas Too commenced Friday April 20th however details on the direction the story will take have yet to be revealed.

Writer-director Cess Silvera confirmed via Twitter that Mavado will accompany the original Shottas star Kymani Marley in the highly anticipated sequel.

Meanwhile Mavado is preparing for a show in NYC along side some hip hop heavy hitters on April 30th.

Monday April 30th Mavado will perform in Manhattan, New York, alongside American rappers Tyga, Wacka Flocka, Fabolous, French Montana, Travis Porter, Busta Rhymes and more.

Mavado is the only reggae artist performing on at the Birthday Bash for New Yorks #1 afternoon radio host Power 105 DJ Prostyle.

“I just had to book the Gully Gad,” said Prostyle. “I’ve been a big fan from day one and I know his fan base is huge so he’s a great addition to the lineup. He has some hot records out now and the whole industry is expecting even bigger things from him this year and I know he gona turn it up on April 30!”

Mavado’s first single on We The Best continues to remain on Hot 97′s playlist.

“I’ve been recording a lot in the US,I’ve been working on my own album with a lot of big US producers as well great Jamaican producers such as Lenky and Dave Kelly. My main focus is to keep it real with my fanbase and give them the music that they love me for. I’ve also been recording features with rappers and R’n’B singers for their own projects as well.” says Mavado
